Liquid Spray Perfume
When liquid perfume is sprayed, its fragrance diffuses into the air. This causes it to settle over a large area on your body, which in turn makes it more immediately potent than if it was dabbed on close to your skin. At the same time, the alcohol base of spray perfume makes it evaporate more quickly than other forms of scent. For this reason, it should be applied lightly at regular intervals.Spraying perfume in your hair is one way to make it last longer. Put it on about 30 minutes before you leave the house so its notes can warm up, mature and blend with your body scent.
Liquid Splash Perfume
The only difference between liquid spray perfume and liquid splash perfume is the bottle that it comes in the formula itself is exactly the same. Perfume applied with spray has more sillage (the degree to which its scent lingers in the air around you), while fragrance that’s splashed on will last longer.
The best way to use perfume from a splash bottle is to firmly press the opening over a pressure point (wrist, inside of your elbow, back of your knees, right above your collarbone) and then turn the bottle over so the liquid contacts your skin. Dabbing perfume on with your fingers will leave your hands with a strong smell, while cotton balls, which are sometimes used to apply perfume, will absorb much of its scent.
Perfume Oil
Oil-based perfumes are applied either with rollerballs or from tubes with open tops. This type of perfume should also be applied on pressure points, which are places that are constantly warmed as your heart beats. This causes the fragrance to be released in a steady stream. Don’t rub in the oil or rub your wrists together, because this weakens the perfume’s scent. Instead, simply let your skin absorb the oils.
Another way to make perfume oil last longer is by applying a few drops to a cotton pad and hiding it somewhere close to your body - say, inside your bra or waistband.
Solid Perfume
Solid perfume is similar to perfume oil in that it has significant staying power and is applied directly to your skin. Layering it with a liquid perfume can help both last longer.
Solid perfume evaporates slowly over the course of an entire day. During that time, as it interacts in varying ways with your body temperature and chemistry, its scent will change and evolve.
Perfume Lotion
Though perfumed lotions don’t have significant staying power in their own right, they can help a solid, liquid or oil perfume last longer. Skin holds a scent better when it’s hydrated, so applying lotion before putting on perfume is an easy way to extend its life.
Choose a lotion that matches your perfume scent so as not to mix and fragrances.
